Project Overview
Sustainable Resources Group is a family-owned waste management company that has spent over three decades pioneering sustainable solutions for the food and beverage industry. With more than 70 years of combined team experience, they specialize in transforming spent coffee grounds and other food processing residuals into valuable, eco-friendly products.
Managing over 40,000 tons of spent coffee grounds and 17 million gallons of liquid production residuals annually, they’ve helped countless businesses achieve zero-landfill goals while reducing operational costs. Their innovative approach goes beyond traditional waste management by creating beneficial uses like organic land application, composting, animal feed, and consumer products under their Java-branded product line.
A Decade’s Partnership
This marks the third website I’ve built for Sustainable Resources Group since our partnership began in 2015. The first iteration proved so successful that it played a key role in the founder’s ability to sell the business and retire. This latest redesign presented an entirely new set of challenges as the company expanded both its services and revenue streams.
The primary objective was integrating their new e-commerce venture, UpcycledCoffee.com, with the main corporate site. We developed the online store to capture valuable SEO traffic around “upcycled coffee” while ensuring both sites maintained cohesive branding and seamless cross-linking. The goal was to make the two properties feel like parts of a unified ecosystem rather than disconnected entities.
The site also needed to reflect the company’s expanded service offerings, including new Micro-Hauling and Trucking divisions. I created detailed project profile pages to showcase their diverse work across industries and developed a streamlined Careers section where prospective employees can directly upload resumes.
The result is a digital presence that supports both B2B service inquiries and direct-to-consumer product sales while positioning Sustainable Resources Group as the industry leader in spent coffee management.
